№ 33. Mary Baker Eddy and the end-time

PAGE STATUS: Stepped away from this rewrite to finish the timeline on my homepage.
LAST UPDATE: March 18, 2021

“I know what
is coming”
Three different worlds.
One Message.

Right or wrong, encrypted in the text of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures is the year 2022, which is in perfect agreement with the year projected in the Walt Disney Pictures’ Tomorrowland movie and the “Francis page” in the First Folio. There’s a reason for that. All of this information is coming from the Royal Arch Freemasons of the South.

“We are told the world
will be destroyed”

—Mary Baker Eddy (my queen)

A common Elizabethan England practice,
Mrs. Eddy used the “Royal We” for a very
specific reason,—to let us know from whom
she learned about the coming apocalypse.

Rapier swords of Elizabethan England
Matthew 10:34-36
Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household.
For the so-called Christian Scientists of today,
I am that sword

For others, I assure you there is nothing “religious”
about this page. I write about the end-time. The
Christian Scientists have all but disowned me for
somewhat obvious reasons. I got out of line.  I pray
God I have the integrity to never get back in that line.

Inheritance brings out the worst in people

My life is a protest against what Christian Science has become. I publically denounce my own teacher. It is a hard truth,—one that required 13 years of my life to fully understand,—but underneath a seemingly loving exterior was a woman whose primary concern in life was what others thought about her. I edited her Association addresses for years. I saw the movement through her eyes in countless private discussions with her during the years in which her family and the movement all but deserted her, only to rally by her side as she was dying. Her other students will denounce me for saying this about her, but this is just the human predicament. In her haste for promenance, she gave rise to the current leader of the so-called dissident movement. They are as horrifically misguided as is the Mother Church, which betrayed Christ for 30 silver coins when it accepted inheritance money for publishing the Bliss Knapp book. It is too late now. The integrity of the church cannot be restored before the end. I thank God when I think of what is going to happen to Boston. The church is only about three feet above sea level. The time for these damnable buildings and the regimented, pretentious, and ultimately ugly human organization behind them has come to an end. Live your Christianity. Don’t hide it in some building.

After reading this page, if you are curious about these people, watch the Martha Wilcox videos on the PlainfieldCS YouTube channel. She was a part of Mrs. Eddy’s household. To be precise, she was hired as the housekeeper. There is no pretention in her. She represents what it meant to be a Christian Scientist before my lifetime,—the way it used to be. It’s not the same now. These are not the same people.

Mrs. Eddy’s February 22 (2022) message to all mankind regarding the apocalypse

As you will see momentarily, Mrs. Eddy is only protecting her work for posterity by beginning these statements with “In the year twenty-one hundred I think.” She has encoded the year of the apocalypse as 2022 into her work. She has done so in what I can only describe as classic Baconian cryptological style, so do not tell me this woman was not told the true identity of William Shakespeare and all that implies,—namely that she was privy to everything the most knowledgable Freemasons of her day knew about the end-time. What I have seen with my own eyes, and what I share on this page, is unmistakable proof that she knows everything the Royal Arch Freemasons in the South knew. Though unrecognized by Christian Scientists the world over, this encoded message is ingenious. It is not the product of my imagination. In as much as these people hate me with what I can only describe as an unusual passion, I can assure you that is what they will think, but the mathematical simplicity of the encoding, as well as its classical progeny of Jove “anti-ciphers,” is unmistakable evidence of a Ћinker at work. She was the greatest woman that has ever lived. She would not have left us in the dark regarding what is about to happen. Nor did the Nazarene.

Notes on the Course in Divinity by Lida Fitzpatrick C.S.D., the bottom of page thirty-eight and top of page thirty-nine
“All the woes Jeremiah predicted will come to pass”
Jeremiah 4:23-28
I beheld the earth, and, lo, [it was] without form, and void; and the heavens, and they [had] no light. I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I beheld, and, lo, [there was] no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place [was] a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, [and] by his fierce anger. For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end. For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken [it], I have purposed [it], and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.

Just another crazy Christian predicting the end of the world, right? I might agree were it not for the enormous amount of thought given to what she said. I discuss the framework in which this message was delivered in the following section. What you see here is but the proverbial tip of the iceberg

Hold off on your judgment that February 22 is a reference to the year 2022. It is merely what I call an anti-cipher on this website. But as I will demonstrate in the next section, this anti-cipher is in itself impressive. The purpose of this anti-cipher is to assure the reader that they have correctly interpreted her encoding of the year of the apocalypse, which is much more subtle and yet shares the same mathematical simplicity as is used in the anti-cipher. The mechanism with which she divulges the year is a single sentence on page 560 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures but involves the entire “textbook” as the Christian Scientists call it. And note too, while Lida Fitzpatrick referred to this as a “prophecy,” there is no prophecy involved here. God did not whisper anything into Mrs. Eddy’s ear. She learned what she knows from the Freemasons of the South, and as you will see momentarily, she makes this perfectly clear, at least to my satisfaction.

As for the thought that the Christian Scientists could somehow avert this disaster by raising the level of consciousness of the whole world, methinks this is not going to happen. I was recently told by a “Journal-listed” (read officially sanctioned) practitioner, a man who I respect, that another Journal-listed practitioner bragged of earning $5,000 a month praying for people. I probably just forfeited that relationship to tell you this. Nevertheless, I think this information belongs in the public domain. I admire this man for his honesty. Not one in one hundred Christian Science practitioners or teachers would admit to such an astounding fact. You know, my domestic partner’s Buddhist sect are saying the same thing,—that the only hope for mankind now is that their people will somehow raise the level of consciousness of the whole world and prevent the apocalypse from ever happening. This is a religious delusion. The Nazarene said no such thing. He gave his life to warn us. This fact is so overlooked by the so-called Christians of today, be they Catholics, Baptists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, or Christian Scientists, that I have taken to saying “he was trying to save our ass, not our soul.” And that is very much true for this generation.

A mature Mary Baker Eddy

The framework for the February 22, 1904, so-called “prophecy”

Most likely long after writing the sentence on page 560 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures discussed below, Mary Baker Eddy said the following while teaching her Course in Divinity on May 18, 1903:

I know what is coming. I dare not tell you what I know; you are young yet, and now is the time to experiment. You will know someday. We are told the world will be destroyed. How? … We are told, like Mt. Pelee there is an internal fire that will finally burst forth and will destroy the world.”

Who is “We”? Mrs. Eddy is using the “Royal we.” This usage has become outdated. What she is saying is that “I was told…” Who told her is a subject discussed at length below, but Mrs. Eddy’s curious use of the Royal We not once but twice in the May 18, 1903, message was itself revealing.

The royal we, or majestic plural (pluralis majestatis), is the use of a plural pronoun (or corresponding plural-inflected verb forms) to refer to a single person who is a monarch. The more general word for the use of a weus, or our to refer to oneself is nosism.

Wikipedia, Royal we

Royal We = Royal Arch

I always check the etymology of words to make sure they are consistent with the facts I present on this website. The Royal We was in use for well over seven centuries before Mrs. Eddy decided to use it as part of her encryption of the what and when of the apocalypse as told to her by the Royal Arch Freemasons of the South.

For the sake of full disclosure. The image below is the actual page from which I am quoting. I say full disclosure because this is some pretty weird stuff, frankly. I don’t know what to make of it. I’ve been reading her for 44 years now and I can assure you, this is not how she normally talks. All I can think is that she is trying to make a dramatic impression on the minds of her students so that they write everything down. The design of her anti-cipher depends on what she is telling them eventually making it to print (in a book I would add that she imagined would only be available to her students, and indeed only her most serious students would own a copy of this book). Here I feel inclined to quote the Nazarene.

Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Over the years I have come to understand this saying as the Nazarene expressing confidence in the impression he has made on the minds of the people through his healings and raising Lazarus from the dead. Though at the time Lida Fitzpatrick and the other students could not have known, something roughly equivalent was happening with Mrs. Eddy in this February 22, 1904 advanced class in metaphysics.  She must have used such highly unusual expressions while addressing them so as to make sure they would capture what she was saying in writing. In any case, your focus should be on the encryption mechanism.

Please note that the initials C.S.D. after Lida Fitzpatrick’s name mean that she was an officially recognized Christian Science teacher who was herself taught by Mary Baker Eddy. Indeed, these notes are from what was considered to be the most advanced course on metaphysics that Mrs. Eddy taught.

Notes on the Course in Divinity by Lida Fitzpatrick C.S.D., top of page nine

On May 18, 1903, she would have looked much like she does in the photograph above. But this is Mrs. Eddy in her home speaking to a small class of her most advanced students. Stop and think for a minute. If Mary Baker Eddy really knew the world was about to be destroyed, would she not have warned her students (as the Nazarene did his disciples) in her textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures? Of course, she would have. That warning is the single sentence at the top of page 560. But I am getting ahead of myself.

Something profoundly interesting happens when you look at these two days: May 18, 1903 and February 22, 1904The second date is exactly 280 days
or a highly symbolic 40 weeks later.

In other words, she carefully planned the “I know what is coming” comment to her most promising students 280 days or 40 weeks in advance of her February 22, 1904, final comment on the apocalypse. And then apparently told them something like, “Do not mention this prophecy” so as to assure it would not be lost to history. Why? Why is the timing of these two dates so important to her?

If you assume her reference to the date on which she is speaking is deliberate, the 22nd day of the second month, I think it is quite reasonable for her to expect us to multiply the 280 days by two.

280 x 2 = 560

This is the page on which her encoded message is hidden in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

You must see past whatever objections you may have—to religion in general or to Christian Science in particular—to the effort that is being made in the design of this anti-cipher. The entire purpose of the date February 22 and the 280 days or 40 weeks that point to page 560 is to assure the reader that their interpretation of the highly encrypted, yet mathematically simple message discussed on the remainder of this page is correct. Such anti-ciphers are encountered all the time when studying the progeny of Jove. One comes to expect them if the hidden message is of such monumental importance. Without them, the mind is left wondering, “Can this be true?” And, yes, I did just say that Mary Baker Eddy is the progeny of Jove. So is anyone with specific knowledge of the end-time.

Right or wrong, what Mrs. Eddy is saying in these two messages to her students is that she was told by the Royal Arch Freemasons in the South that the apocalypse is in the year 2022. Keep reading and you will see this for yourself.

I want to emphasize here that page 560 includes the sentence in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures discussed in the remainder of this page. It is not the page on which the chapter entitled The Apocalypse begins. That chapter begins on page 558, itself a highly symbolic reference to Queen Elizabeth I as discussed on page № 53. Sir Francis Bacon and the founding of the Rosicrucian and Freemason secret societies.

The discovery

I discovered the full breadth of this encrypted message over a period of more than two years. This is something of an “up to the minute” report in that it was not until I was writing this section on October 9, 2020, that I got what might finally be the last piece of the puzzle. I know the word revelator is somewhat common, but I always felt its use in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures was awkwardly impersonal. It just never occurred to me before today to check. So I checked.

QUESTION: How many times is the word Revelator used in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures?

This greatly disappointed me for I was sure it would be a meaningful answer. I kept working and then noticed the image above. The Apocolypse is Chapter 16 in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Mary Baker Eddy is the Revelator and as discussed below the revelation is the number of times she uses the word Revelation with a capital R. The encryption of this message is nothing short of ingenious.

There are five main elements to the encryption. They are listed here in the same chronological order in which I discovered them. (The sixth bulleted item is a late addition and not really part of the encryption mechanism.)

  • THE MISTAKE: This is the device Mrs. Eddy used to catch the attention of alert readers. This deliberate mistake is the exact same eye-catching device used by Sir Francis Bacon and the Rosicrucians in the First Folio, such as incorrect page numbers. It is subtle enough that for well over a century no one in the Christian Science movement noticed it. I noticed the mistake long before it ever occurred to me to count the number of words in the sentence.
  • MEANING OF THE SIXTH SEAL: I struggled with the meaning of the sixth seal for a long time. It was not until after what can only be described as an epiphany in which I realized what seems obvious to me now,—namely that the description of the sixth seal in The Revelation is an Earth crustal displacement (or axial tilt, if you prefer),—that it occurred to me to count the number of words in the sentence. I counted, recounted, and counted again. The 23 words in this sentence is a confirmation that the sixth seal is describing an Earth crustal displacement. That was the day I realized this was an encrypted message.
  • SACRED NUMBERS: Once I had the 23, I could see more clearly that the 666 I suspected was part of the text was indeed very deliberate. The use of 666 confirms unlike anything else could that Mrs. Eddy was fully aware that the sixth seal is found only in Revelation 6. It also explains her totally bizarre use of “typical of six thousand years since Adam” which frankly otherwise makes absolutely no sense. The “six” in “six thousand” is the second sixth. Here is wisdom; the third sixth is Revelation 6. She is telling you two things here. The first is that she knows she is referencing Revelation 6. The second thing is that she is telling you where she got this information. This is confirmed by the even more subtle use of the “Royal We” discussed above and the “son of John” device discussed below.
  • ENCODING OF THE YEAR: Ever since I can remember it has bothered me that Mrs. Eddy’s chapter on The Revelation is called The Apocolypse instead and that she appeared to be using these two book titles interchangeably without rhyme or reason, in an almost willy-nilly fashion. Then one day long after I thought I knew everything there was to know about this encrypted message, I was studying the “Francis page” (i.e. the true identity of the writer, not the actor, William Shakespeare) when the thought came to me to count the number of occurrences of capitalized Revelation and Apocolypse in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. I was not disappointed.
  • HIDDEN REFERENCE TO THE YORK RITE: This last thing is so subtle that, even after seeing it for the first time, I almost walked away. If fact I did. I erased what I had written and moved on to other work, but felt compelled to go back and take another look. I’m glad I did because it resulted in perhaps the best collection of information available about her late husband George Washinton Glover and his ties to Royal Arch Masonry in the York Rite. This is the “son of John” device mentioned in a previous bulleted item and discussed at length in the section entitled The widow of a Royal Arch Freemason.
  • SHE KNOWS WHO WROTE THE REVELATION: As I said above, the time between noticing the apparent mistake on page 560 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and finding the hidden reference to Royal Arch Masonry is over two years. Almost all of that time I was deeply troubled by the fact that Mrs. Eddy apparently thought The Revelation was written by Christians. How could I know something she did not? Perhaps I was wrong? No. If I am wrong about that then I am wrong about everything. So I lived with this uncomfortable feeling for a long time. Then one day it dawned on me like the rising sun, she knew. She was just using their book to do essentially the same exact same thing the Ћinkers did in the King James Version of the Holy Bible, the First Folio, and other works supposedly written by William Shakespeare. She was passing along a very important encrypted message to a future generation.

The following subsections expound on each of these bulleted items for those who would like to know more.

The sentence

Most of this page is about a single sentence in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures written by Mary Baker Eddy. This sentence is at the top of page 560 and consists of 23 words which I am quite sure were very carefully crafted. Readers unfamiliar with this writer should know that she was famous for spending an extraordinarily long time writing just two sentences in a book that has a total of 700 pages.

In the opening of the sixth seal, typical of six thousand years since Adam, the distinctive feature has reference to the present age.

Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, page 560

The problem with this text,—what I am characterizing as an apparent mistake or more accurately an “eye-catcher” in classic Baconian cryptological style,—is that there is only one occurrence of “sixth seal” in the Bible and it is found in Revelation 6:12.

Revelation 6:12-17
And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; and the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; and said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: for the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

The “stars of heaven fell unto the earth” and “heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together” are widely accepted as classic examples of describing an Earth crustal displacement or axial tilt. Mrs. Eddy is telling us what to expect in the near future. But it is the manner in which she says it which is the subject of this page. It is an encrypted message. She is telling us what she learned while in Wilmington, North Carolina in the company of Royal Arch Masons. At a time when the people I refer to as the progeny of Jove are still Freemasons, she is divulging to us their greatest secret, specific knowledge of the end time. For well over a century it has sat there waiting for someone to notice. I did, and tried to tell others within the Christian Science movement. What did I get in return? Ridicule and disdain has been piled on me as if I were the devil incarnate. Man, I am tired of these people.

My God, the audacity of this woman! Not only does this one sentence tell us the what of the apocalypse, but the when.
These are referred to as “marginal headings”

This sentence includes what is usually referred to as a “marginal heading.”

To-Day’s Lesson

Mrs. Eddy did a number of very subtle things to make this sentence jump off the page for alert readers. In the previous sentence, for example, she is talking about the nineteenth century, but in the sentence under discussion,—the very next sentence,—she refers to the “present age” and the marginal heading is “To-days Lesson.” For the record, Mrs. Eddy died on December 3, 1910 (i.e. in the twentieth century). She would not have written this only to see the context in which it was read by others become outdated while she was yet still alive. This time discrepancy is deliberate.

For your convenience, here are photocopies of the first three pages of the chapter entitled The Apocalypse from a 1908, water-stained copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (so as to avoid any issue with highly controversial changes made to the book by the Christian Science Board of Directors in 1910, the year Mrs. Eddy died).

The apparent mistake is in reference to the opening of the “sixth seal”

One thing I can tell you for sure is that no one alive has sufficient imagination to conceive of the level of destruction that is about to be visited upon us. We use the word “apocalypse” way too casually. There is a reason one must reach back 2,600 years to find the men trying to tell us what it is like. And there is a reason why these men are in awe of what they perceive as the power of God.

The Apocalypse: the opening of the sixth seal. Mezzotint by G.H. Phillips, 1844, after F. Danby

Both before and after the encrypted message in the sentence, “In the opening of the sixth seal, typical of six thousand years since Adam, the distinctive feature has reference to the present age,” Mrs. Eddy is either talking about or quoting the twelfth chapter of The Revelation. The problem again is the term “sixth seal” occurs only once in the Bible, and it is in the sixth chapter of The Revelation, not the twelfth.

Reference to the “sixth seal” is out of place, and an apparent mistake.

Here are all three sentences with the references to the twelfth chapter and to the sixth seal highlighted.

The twelfth chapter of the Apocalypse, or Revelation of St. John, has a special suggestiveness in connection with the nineteenth century. In the opening of the sixth seal, typical of six thousand years since Adam, the distinctive feature has reference to the present age.

Revelation xii. 1. And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 560:2-9

I do not think there are any more carefully chosen words in the history of writing. By starting the previous sentence with the very explicit “The twelfth chapter of the Apocalypse, or Revelation of St. John,” she is telling us that she knows whereof she speaks. In the next sentence, she is about to reference the sixth chapter of The Revelation, and she wants to make it perfectly clear to the reader that this is not a mistake. So she uses the awkward “typical of six thousand years since Adam” which is part of her version of “here is wisdom,” a hidden reference to 666. Then the thing happens that originally caught my attention several years ago. She quotes from Revelation 12 as if the intervening sentence “In the opening of the sixth seal, typical of six thousand years since Adam, the distinctive feature has reference to the present age” did not exist. Once you become aware of the fact that the reference to the sixth seal is out of place, reading this leaves one with the distinct feeling that there is something you do not understand. Either you learn to live with that feeling or question the text. I chose to do the latter.

There were 432 editions of this book, yet another profoundly interesting use of sacred numbers by the author. She poured over it for most of her life. Do you think for a moment that it’s possible that year after year she read “The twelfth chapter of the Apocalypse, or Revelation of St. John” and then saw the reference to the “sixth seal” in the next sentence and never noticed this discrepancy? Please, stop for a minute and ponder this question because in answering it fairly and honestly a light will pour into your consciousness and you will see these two lines and the quote from Revelation 12 as they were meant to be seen.

What exactly is the “distinctive feature” of the Sixth seal?

When Mrs. Eddy was speaking in her home to this small class of advanced students, she said “I dare not say” [what is coming], but then right away she turns around and says very clearly that “like Mt. Pelee there is an internal fire that will finally burst forth and will destroy the world.” So she did say, but why?

Is the “distinctive feature” in Revelation 6 a major earthquake?

What does the Bible actually say? Revelation 6 begins as follows:

And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

I believe this is why Mrs. Eddy told her class, “I dare not say,” and then immediately did say a great earthquake because Revelation 6 makes this a plausible answer. But even a supervolcano does not approach the dire predictions found in the Bible as enumerated in the section entitled Origins of the progeny of Jove (circa 600 BC). For example:

Matthew 24:21
for then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be

Daniel 12:1
there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation

The record is clear the Earth has survived many supervolcano eruptions, as it will many more in the future. They are a regular part of life on this planet. Clearly, the fictitious Daniel and the Nazarene are referring to something much worse, a level of devastation that will undoubtedly end “the present age.” So what exactly is the “distinctive feature” if not an earthquake?

The “Ark Edition” of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. See also Can you give some background on the Ark Edition of “Science and Health”? at the MBE Library.

The cover of the second edition of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures was published in 1878,—a full 35 years after she married Colonel George Washington Glover, which means equally long since she was a part of Freemason high society because he died right after they were married. This one-of-a-kind edition was adorned with an image of Noah’s Ark. Consequently, it is called the “Ark Edition.” Why? Why did she put an image of Noah’s Ark on her primary work on metaphysics?

If the cover of the “Ark Edition” was meant to convey a message about the end-time, that message stands in stark contrast to her suggestion that the world is about to be destroyed by a major earthquake. Which is it, a major earthquake or another biblical deluge?

Perhaps she was thinking ahead to a future edition and the use of something infinitely more subtle. If the Ark Edition says “I am going to use the cover of my book to tell you something about the coming destruction of the world,” what adorns the final edition of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures? Nothing less than a widely-recognized Freemason symbol, one that also adorns many of their lodges.

The symbol at the top is a trademark for Christian Science. The Freemason symbol at the bottom is also known as “Knight Templars Blood-Red Passion Cross and Crown”. There are several critically important differences between these two symbols. The Cross and Crown symbol as used in Christian Science lacks the crossed swords, cross pattée, and the Latin phrase “In Hoc Signo Vinces”. This phrase is blazoned on the cross pattée, which has its origins in astrology, not Christianity. Furthermore, Constantine the Great was a progeny of Jove (as were all the Greats is history). The progeny of Jove brutally murdered the Nazarene days after he told his disciples about the end of this world in what has since become known as the Olivet Discourse. They did this to silence him. For those in the know, the Knight Templars Blood-Red Passion Cross and Crown signify the eventual death of Christianity and of religion in general. Mrs. Eddy liberated the Cross and Crown, surrounded it with a circle, her sign for the infinite God, and replaced “In Hoc Signo Vinces” with a condensation of the following scripture.

Mark 16:17-18
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

But what does the Cross and Crown symbol mean? What does this symbol tell us about the coming destruction of the world? I believe the tilted cross in the Cross and Crown symbol is emblematic of the coming axial tilt, as used in both Freemasonry and Christian Science.

It is interesting to note that Mrs. Eddy chose
While this interpretation of the Cross and Crown may be controversial, let us be sure of one thing, the start of the sentence “In the opening of the sixth seal” is a reference to the closing paragraph of Revelation 6 (verses 12-17, quoted below) in which the term “sixth seal” is mentioned. Thus, whatever is identified as the “distinctive feature” must be drawn from these verses of the Bible and nowhere else.

Revelation 6

I do not expect all readers to know this, but “and the stars of heaven fell unto the earth” and “the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together” is a classic, widely-accepted description of the night sky during an axial tilt. Nor will I advance that argument on this page as it is most likely never going to be read. Non-Christian Scientists will shun this page thinking I intend to proselytize. And Christian Scientists will shun it for reasons discussed on page № 103. The Problem with Today’s Christian Scientists. Nevertheless, that Revelation 6 is depicting an axial tilt is beyond question. This is precisely why Rand and Rose Flem-Ath named their book “When The Sky Fell.” Great earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and unbelievably huge, mountainous ocean tsunamis (the later delayed by at least one or two days, see Noah’s Secret for a discussion) are inherently part of an axial tilt.

The “distinctive feature” is an Earth crustal displacement that will kill over seven billion people within a matter of days either by drowning in megatsunami waves, earthquakes, giant volcanic eruptions (if not a supervolcano or two), or sheer terror.

game of wits

This is how my religious leader chose to be remembered in her old age. The cross is conspicuously tilted in the wrong direction and she is wearing a crown tiara in her hair.

How could she not know The Revelation is fake? How could I know something she did not? For years after my initial discovery of her encoded message, this thought hounded me.

Then I had what can only be described as an epiphany. She knew better. She really did beat the progeny of Jove at their own game. She played along with the notion that The Revelation was divinely inspired and she used it to do exactly what they did, which was to hide a very important message. That message, for those of you who care to listen, is the number of times the capitalized word Revelation appears in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. In other words, the word Revelation is the revelation. And now freed from the irksome feeling that I could see what Mary Baker Eddy could not, my admiration for this woman knows no bounds. I will tell the reader what not even the Christian Scientists will say so bluntly. Her book, the one in which this message is so well hidden, is the promised Comforter of which the Nazarene spoke when he said:

John 14:16, 25-26
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. …These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

The progeny of Jove were bested. Mrs. Eddy beat them at their own game. Or, if she was indeed “a scribe under orders” and if the Nazarene can be taken at his word in the above-quoted text from the Bible, perhaps it is he who is warning us. I do not care for such religious niceties, but I do care about the message.

As you read the following section, I challenge you to tell me how it differs one whit from Sir Francis Bacon’s Scene IV of Act II of the First Part of King Henry IV (the “Francis page”) discussed in the section entitled The Lost Secret of William Shakespeare by Richard Allan Wagner. Perhaps now you will understand what Mr. Wagner did not, the real significance of the numbers in play.

Bacon further dazzles us in Scene IV of Act II of the First Part of King Henry IV with the most conspicuous exhibition of code in all of the Shakespeare plays, in what many scholars call the Francis page.” The least important character in the play is a soldier named Francis—so insignificant that his name isn’t included in the play’s list of “Persons Represented.” Yet, on the first page of Scene IV of Act II (quarto version), Francis makes his only appearance in the play.* On this one page, the name Francis appears 39 times, i.e. 17 times as an unspoken stage direction or prompt, and 22 times as spoken in a line. The number 17 corresponds to the name Bacon in the Pythagorean Cipher, and the number 22, as we have consistently seen, is Bacon’s birth date, i.e. January 22 (the 22nd day of the year). Moreover, it is no coincidence that the first utterance of the name Francis in Prince Henry’s opening speech comes precisely 33 words after his use of the keyword “hogsheads.

The Lost Secret of William Shakespeare , Chapter 21, Intimate Details, p. 142, by Richard Allan Wagner

Secret societies throughout the ages have used the number 23 to refer to the coming axial tilt. The 23-word sentence under discussion on this page is the third sentence on the third page in the chapter entitled “The Apocalypse.” This subtle reference to 33 is her telling the reader who told her about the coming axial tilt. I would go so far as to suggest Mrs. Eddy was fully cognizant of the “Francis page” and was mimicking it in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures to disclose some of the most protected information in the history of mankind.

I implore you to please stop and take the time to think of how much thought she put into hiding this message. T

Mrs. Eddy is aware of the title of the corresponding chapter in the King James Bible. She called her chapter on The Revelation “The Apocalypse” instead. This is the first hint of what is to come.

Notice anything peculiar here? Seriously. Look real hard before you continue reading. This is the first page from Mary Baker Eddy’s chapter on the Book of Revelation. Do you see it?

The name of the chapter is Apocalypse, but when she quotes from the book she refers to it as Revelation. The actual name of the chapter in the original 1611 King James Bible is The Revelation. Though in their mad rush to modernity the Christian Scientists of today are routinely quoting their “Golden Text” and “Responsive Readings” (the stuff read at the start of a service) from other translations of the Bible, the Authorized King James Bible is the only Bible from which the (rest of the) weekly Lesson-Sermon is read in Christian Science churches. This is an interesting fact in and of itself because the King James Bible encodes much information about the end times. Such information is lost in other translations.

Why the change? Mary Baker Eddy never talks about the end of the world anywhere in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, including the chapter she chose to name Apocalypse. Think about that for a minute. Why is she throwing this Apocalypse versus Revelation change in your face right at the start of the chapter? To be fair, she changes from one to the other name for the 66th book of the (protestant) Bible throughout her book, but I see meaning is this very in-your-face change. Apocalypse is the Greek word for Revelation, and I think this is a reference to the secret societies (think Pythagoras) and a foreshadowing the the hidden message about the coming axial tilt I discuss in this chapter. Saying so only exposes me to more ridicule, but then again, I apparently am the first Christian Scientist on the planet to discover her hidden message, and I feel in that sense I have the right to interpret what is happening here. In the tradition of all the great writers about this secret of secrets, Mrs. Eddy left me (that’s right, I said me) an anti-cipher, a way of knowing for sure my interpretation of her meaning is correct. Right now, if you care about your life, you need to be listening very carefully.

The word Apocalypse with a capital A occurs 13 times in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. The word Revelation with a capital R occurs 22 times.

There’s no need to check me. I went over it five times the day I found it. I wish for a moment you could enter my world because when it occurred to me to count the number of Apocalypse occurrences, I knew the answer before I checked. With all my sins and the mountain of contempt the Christian Scientists heap upon me so that finally I had to part company with them, I am closer to the heart of this woman than any other living human being.

Now for that one in one thousand readers who have made it this far, I welcome you to what is for me some of the most precious material on this entire website. Throw out religion. That’s not what it is about. This is about a book written by a highly intelligent woman who was married to a high ranking Royal Arch Freemason back when that meant something. I am quite convinced he told her everything, perhaps on his dying bed.

The quotes at the top of Chapter XVI, The Apocalypse

The quotes at the top of Mrs.Eddy’s chapters where very carefully chosen.

In the first quote, I would suggest to you that the emphasis on “the time is at hand.” But it is the second quote which deserves the most scrutiny. Explain to me the relevance of this quote? You cannot except for the presence of one word.

Matthew 24:16
…flee into the mountains

When you combine the first “the time is at hand” quote from the top of Chapter 16, “The Apocalypse” in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures with “To-day’s Lesson” (referred to as a marginal heading and discussed below) from the top of page 560 in the “textbook” of Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy’s statement that “the time for thinkers has come” takes on a whole new meaning.

How utterly fascinating that she quotes Revelation 12:1 immediately after this sentence. Was she also told about the significance of the asterism that occurred on September 23, 2017, and which I discuss at great length on page № 23. The Great Wonder was an Asterism on September 23, 2017 (923)? Was she trying to tell us the timing also?

Now let’s back up to the start of the chapter. The second quote from the Bible is Psalm 48:1. “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.” I think she is pointing Psalms 48 for a reason. Remember, this is not long after the Civil War. I believe she means to suggest an allegorical connection between the progeny of Jove and Korah. The reason I think this is because we are not the intended audience. This is way too subtle for all but a people who communicate in this language all the time, such as the Freemasons of the South, who I believe she is equating with the sons of Korah. This is nothing less than an extraordinarily well-hidden prayer for them, in their own language, which is to say, in symbols. So well hidden, in fact, methinks they may even have missed it.

The whole of Psalms 48 deserves scrutiny in this context.

Psalm 48
A Song and Psalm for the sons of Korah.
1 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God,
in the mountain of his holiness.
2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion,
on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
3 God is known in her palaces for a refuge.
4 For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.
5 They saw it, and so they marvelled;
they were troubled, and hasted away.
6 Fear took hold upon them there,
and pain, as of a woman in travail. [yet another reference to Revelation 12:1-2]
7 Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.
8 As we have heard, so have we seen
in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God:
God will establish it for ever. Selah.

9 We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.
10 According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth:
thy right hand is full of righteousness.
11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad,
because of thy judgments.
12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her:
tell the towers thereof.
13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces;
that ye may tell it to the generation following.
14 For this God is our God for ever and ever:
he will be our guide even unto death.

I did not uncover this psalm until well after I changed course and started to praise the Freemasons of the South and differentiate them from the European Illuminati posers in the North. I feel vindicated in that course correction now.

Here is wisdom

Your average Christian Scientist has grown so wise in their own eyes, that they probably dismiss the 666, “Here is wisdom” passage in the Bible as childish nonsense, not realizing their leader fully embraced it.

Revelation 13:18
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Now here is what I consider to be the single most important sentence (at least for this generation) in all of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:

In the opening of the sixth seal, typical of six thousand years since Adam, the distinctive feature has reference to the present age.

For a long time even after I became aware of the significance of this sentence, the phrase “typical of the sixth thousand years since Adam” bothered me to no end. It was meant to do that. It was meant to get your attention. I have carefully read the entire sixth chapter of Revelation and there is nothing “typical of the sixth thousand years since Adam” in it. Nothing! including the sixth seal. Why then this peculiar phrase?

What we are talking about here is something I refer to as an anti-cipher elsewhere on this website. All of the great writers use them. What an anti-cipher is meant to communicate is “Yes! You get it.” Anti-ciphers assure the reader that some otherwise fantastical interpretation of the text is correct.

The missing sixth is the anti-cipher. Now you can understand why she began the previous sentence, “The twelfth chapter of the Apocalypse, or Revelation of St. John…”

You see, something is missing in the sentence, “In the opening of the sixth seal, typical of six thousand years since Adam, the distinctive feature has reference to the present age.” The missing thing is the sixth chapter of Revelation. This sentence is pointing to that chapter. So we have the sixth seal and sixth thousand years pointing to the sixth chapter of Revelation, or 666. The dull, unsuspecting mind will dismiss this possibility as imaginative, not appreciating the significance of the hidden reference to the sixth chapter of Revelation. But this is precisely why she began the previous sentence, “The twelfth chapter.”

Matthew 10-11
And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

Colonel George Washington Glover

The widow of a Royal Arch Freemason

Mary Baker Eddy married a high-ranking Freemason at the height of their power when they were still in direct control of the United States of America through the presidency. His name was Colonel George Washington Glover. He obviously took her into his confidence and broke his oath of secrecy. How else could she know? I do not believe in prophecy, a subject I discuss on page № 102. There are No Prophets.

I am using photocopies in this section because I think the reader should acquaint himself with this source material in context. In as much as the year encoded in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures is in perfect agreement with Walt Disney Picture’s Tomorrowland movie, the stakes are high.

Marriage and Parentage from Retrospection and Introspection by Mary Baker Eddy, page 19

Union Chapter No. 3 was in Charleston, South Carolina as attested to by the following Google Books entry. Note that this is a Grand Royal Arch Chapter.

This is where George Glover lived prior to 1844 and his marriage with Mary Baker Eddy. He is about 300 miles away from what would later become Atlanta, Georgia, and “in the heighth [sic] of prosperity” as he himself says. More importantly, this is the precise time Pythagoras Lodge No. 41 is chartered. He is at the right place (Royal Arch Freemasons in the South) at the right time.

Saint John’s Lodge Number 1 is the oldest continuously operating Masonic Lodge in NC, chartered in Jan 1755 under the Grand Lodge of England. Later, Saint John’s was chartered by the Grand Lodge of North Carolina in 1794 following the Revolutionary War.

Saint Andrew’s Lodge No. 1 Journey to Charleston, SC

“Ancient York Masonic Lodge”

By: Brother McDonald “Don” Burbidge, 33°

A petition written and sent to the Grand Lodge of Scotland by James Grant, Esq., Governor of the Province of East Florida, Henry Cunningham, late Senior Warden of the Grand Lodge of Scotland, and many other Brethren residing in the province. After the reading of the petition a charter was granted on March 15, 1768, for the formation of Saint Andrew Lodge No. 1. This lodge was chartered from ”The Grand Lodge of the Southern District of North America,” from Scotland. Very little information has survived today that reveals to us the history of this Grand Lodge as it once existed …

As documented in the remainder of Saint Andrew’s Lodge No. 1 Journey to Charleston, SC, St. Andrew’s Lodge has an unusual history. It has changed lodge names and numbers no less than five times.

Saint Andrew’s Lodge No. 1 Saint Andrew’s Lodge No. 40

Saint Andrew’s Lodge No. 40 → Union Lodge No. 4

Union Lodge No. 4 → St. Andrew’s Lodge No. 12

St. Andrew’s Lodge No. 12 → St. Andrew’s Lodge No. 10

St. Andrew’s Lodge No. 10 → Saint Andrew’s Lodge No. 1

The point is that this is the oldest Ancient York Masonic Lodge in the state. At this time in history, you cannot get closer to the secret of the ages. Someone talked. Sensing they were around a superior intellect and wanting to impress her, men would be inclined to do this. In a few short decades, Mary Baker Eddy will become one of the most powerful women alive.

It is very significant that this is an “Ancient York Masonic Lodge”

Regius Manuscript – circa 1390
Another ancient manuscript informs us: “Ancient Masonry consists of four degrees, the first three of which are those of the Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft and the sublime Degree of Master Mason: and a brother, being well versed in these degrees is eligible to be admitted to the fourth Degree; The Holy Royal Arch.”

The system of Freemasonry known as the York Rite derives its name from a legendary assembly of Masons in York, England in the year 926, long before the formation of the Grand Lodge of England, and possibly the first general assembly of Masons ever held.

Robert Peel is a widely respected scholar. His three-volume biography entitled Mary Baker Eddy is generally recognized as authoritative. The following pages 66 through 72 from the first volume The Years of Discovery are the principle pages that discuss George Washington Glover. They are summarized below.

The salient points are these (presented here in the same order as they appear in the book):

  • Mary Baker Glover and her new husband George Washington Glover left from Boston bound for Charleston on Christmas Day, 1843 [bottom of p.67]
  • He was prominent in Masonic affairs, a Royal Arch Mason, an officer of St. Andrew’s Lodge.” [middle of p.68]
  • Among their friends was Thomas W. Brown, a prominent Mason, master of St. John’s Lodge.” [top of p.70, this is now in Wilmington]
  • “He was consequently already well-known and well-liked, active as in Charleston in Masonic affairs and apparently also in the Oddfellows.129” [top of p. 70]
  • George Glover dies June 27, 1844 [p.72]

special suggestiveness

The pièce de résistance in Mary Baker’s Eddy’s encoded message is a hidden reference to what was at the time St. Andrew’s Lodge No. 10. It is brilliant beyond description. In the preceding sentence, she states, “The twelfth chapter of the Apocalypse, or Revelation of St. John, has a special suggestiveness in connection with the nineteenth century.” First off, this is the only reference to “Revelation of St. John” in the whole book. But all you read above the encoded message is “tion of St. John, has a special suggestiveness in connection with the nineteenth century.”

tion of St. John
son of St. John

And who is the son of John? There are no less than five verses in the New Testament that say Simon Peter and Andrew are brothers, and Simon Peter is the son of Jonah or John.

Matthew 16:17
“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”

This is the special suggestiveness, and why this sentence not only includes a brazen error but is very awkwardly constructed. She is telling us in no uncertain terms that she learned this from someone at St. Andrew’s Lodge No. 10, most likely her husband perhaps on his death bed. This also explains the reference to the “nineteenth century.” She is pointing to herself. For me at least, this erases any doubt whatsoever that I have correctly interpreted her well-hidden message. For this generation, it is the most important sentence in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, and I found it. Do you know how that makes me feel? I am not even welcome in their churches.

It is not possible to overemphasize that her husband was a member of the Royal Arch. So was the original General George Washington. These were the Freemasons who were entrusted with the most profound secret of the ages. They were our Founding Fathers, and they, like Mrs. Eddy, knew “what is coming.” And if Mrs. Eddy did not learn what was coming from her late husband, then she did from one of the many other high-ranking Freemasons in her church. Someone told her as surely as someone told the Nazarene because I simply do not believe in prophecy.

Pyramid capstone destroyed by the Christian Science Board of Directors

“Seen below is the capstone that was placed upon the homestead of the Baker family in Box, New Hamphire. An unenlightened board of directors, in Boston, destroyed it (with dynamite) because they claimed it led to idolatry of Mary Baker Eddy. The capstone was built by a mason and it is supposed to be the same exact size as the missing capstone to the Great Pyramid of Giza.” —THE ARK OF TRUTH- MOTHER’S HOOD, THE CAPSTONE HEAD by MJSmith

I do not think this subject is relevant to my readers, but I am obligated to mention this pyramid capstone because of an article in the New World Encyclopedia which claims it was a gift from the Freemasons. If this were true, it would be of great historical significance, especially because 1921 is just a couple of years before the Stone of Destiny is given to Nicholas Roerich as discussed on page № 52. The Stone of Destiny and New Atlantis, but I can find no evidence to support this claim. I seriously doubt the Freemasons ever gave Mrs. Eddy another thought after escorting her back to her home in the North. Neither is it an “exact” replica of the missing Great Pyramid of Giza capstone, the dimension of which are well documented in an unattributed PDF entitled In determining the measurements of the Capstone atop the Great Pyramid of Giza.

In 1921 on the 100th anniversary of her birth, a 100-ton, 11-foot high granite pyramid was dedicated on the site of her birthplace in Bow, Massachusetts. A gift from the Freemasons (the only other religious society church members are permitted to join), it was later dynamited by order of the Mother Church Board of Directors. They also ordered her home in Pleasant View to be demolished as it was becoming a place of pilgrimage.

New World Encyclopedia, Mary Baker Eddy

The history of this capstone is best recorded by Christian Scientists in an article entitled “The centennial of Mrs. Eddy’s birth in 1921” on the christiansciencehistory.typepad.com website. This article has much more information and pictures of the pyramid capstone, but it does not even mention Freemasons. Another webpage worth mentioning for those persons interested in reading more is The Granite Pyramid at Bow, New Hampshire – Its History. There is not a single reference to Freemasons on this page either.

Wikipedia says only the following:

In 1921, on the 100th anniversary of Eddy’s birth, a 100-ton (in rough) and 60–70 tons (hewn), pyramid with a 121 square foot footprint was dedicated on the site of her birthplace in Bow, New Hampshire. A gift from James F. Lord, it was dynamited in 1962 by order of the church’s board of directors. Also demolished was Eddy’s former home in Pleasant View, as the board feared that it was becoming a place of pilgrimage.

Wikipedia, Mary Baker Eddy

As of this writing, I can neither confirm that James F. Lord was a Freemason, nor that the pyramid capstone was donated by the Freemasons. I will at some point in the near future ask the opinion of the Research & Reference Services of the Mary Baker Eddy Library in Boston, Massachusetts if they think it is correct to characterize this donation as having come from the Freemasons.

Royal Arch Masonry of the York Rite

About the most revealing thing you can know about Royal Arch Masonry is to understand the “Triple Tau” symbol. I’ve made that very easy in the following slideshow.

One emblem includes the keys to an imaginary heaven and the other symbolically represents the same key (the so-called “Triple Tau”) in the context of the Great Pyramid of Giza or ancient knowledge

Royal Arch Mason

Origins and early development

As for the degree of Royal Arch Mason, Turnbull and Denslow contend that “It is the most widely known and talked about degree in the Masonic system” because it had been part of the third degree until the formation of the United Grand Lodge of England.[12] Although glimpses of Royal Arch Masonry vocabulary appear in Masonic literature from the 1720s, the first verifiable appearance of Royal Arch Masonry is in Ireland in the 1740s during a Dublin procession. According to Lodge No. 21’s records, the “Royal Arch” was carried in a procession by “two excellent Masons” through Youghal, Ireland, on December 27, 1743. However, the oldest known Chapter in the world is Stirling Rock Royal Arch Chapter No 2 in Scotland, which has worked since 1743.[13][14][15]

The degree is also mentioned disapprovingly in Dassigny’s “A serious and impartial enquiry into the cause of the present decay of Free-masonry in the Kingdom of Ireland” published in Dublin in 1744.[16][17] Separate notes in this work indicate that the rite was practiced in Dublin, London and York, and described it as an “organis’d body of men who have passed the chair” (i.e. served as the Master of a Craft lodge).[18]

In 1749, the Grand Lodge of Ireland issued warrants to Lodges 190 and 198 to establish “Royal Arch Lodges”.[19]

From Ireland, the Royal Arch spread to England, where it fueled the rivalry between the two Craft grand lodges in existence at that time. In 1717 the original Premier Grand Lodge of England had been formed in London to govern Craft Freemasonry in England. From 1751, its claim to represent the whole of English Craft Freemasonry was contested by the Antient Grand Lodge of England. In the ensuing debate, the newer grand lodge became known as the “Antients”, while the older was referred to as the “Moderns”. In 1746, Laurence Dermott, later the Grand Secretary of the “Antients”, had been accepted into a Royal Arch Chapter in Dublin, which at that time was open only to those who had previously served as master of a Craft lodge. He regarded the Royal Arch as the fourth degree of Craft Masonry. Under his influence, the “Antients” championed the Royal Arch degree in England, while it was met with hostility in the “Moderns”. At the beginning of the 19th century, when the “Antients” and the “Moderns” moved from rivalry towards union, the role and purpose of the Royal Arch became a sticking point. The “Antients” viewed the Royal Arch as a fourth degree of Craft Freemasonry and worked it as part of the Craft ceremonies, while the “Moderns” held that Craft Freemasonry consisted of three degrees only and that the Royal Arch was at the most an extension of the third (Master Mason’s) degree which was to be administered separately. When the “Antients” and “Moderns” merged in 1813 to form the United Grand Lodge of England, this was possible only after reaching a compromise on the role and purpose of Royal Arch Masonry. After the union, the “Supreme Order of the Holy Royal Arch” would be fully recognized by the United Grand Lodge, but become a separate order with all Craft Lodges permitted to work the ceremony. In its Book of Constitutions, the United Grand Lodge of England declared that “…pure Antient Masonry consists of three degrees and no more, viz. those of the Entered Apprentice, the Fellow Craft, and the Master Mason including the Supreme Order of the Holy Royal Arch.[20][21] In 1823, the United Grand Lodge of England allowed Master Masons to join Holy Royal Arch Chapters without having previously passed through the chair of a Craft lodge.[5] In Freemasonry in Scotland, a candidate for the Royal Arch must also be a Mark Master Mason, a degree which can be conferred within a Royal Arch Chapter if required.

History in the United States

In Northern America, freemasons until the end of the 18th century performed Royal Arch ceremonies as well as some others that are now more familiarly part of Knights Templar and the Red Cross of Constantine.[22]

In Virginia and West Virginia, there is no separate Cryptic Council. The Cryptic Degrees are given under the Royal Arch Chapter.

Fredericksburg Lodge in Virginia lists a conferral of the Royal Arch degree on December 22, 1753.[23][24] There is also a Royal Arch Chapter noted in 1769 in Massachusetts (St. Andrew’s Royal Arch Chapter in Boston, then known as Royall Arch Lodge), where the first Knights Templar degree was also conferred.[25] Through a report compiled by the Committee on History and Research appointed by the Grand Chapter of Massachusetts in 1953 and 1954, it was found that St. Andrew’s Royal Arch Chapter was the oldest Chapter in the Western Hemisphere by date of constitution, having been officially constituted April 9, 1769, though the records implied that the Chapter had been working prior to that date, and perhaps as early as 1762. The report also states that it is unknown whether the Fredericksburg Lodge in Virginia conferred only the Royal Arch degree or the entire series of degrees.[26] Pennsylvania, however, claims to have the oldest extant Royal Arch Chapter in the world. Royal Arch Chapter No. 3 (formerly Jerusalem Royal Arch Chapter No. 3, and before that Royal Arch Lodge No. 3) has complete minutes going back as far as December 3, 1767. (The minutes from this date mention approving the minutes from the previous meeting.) This Chapter began meeting under the authority of the Grand Lodge of England (Ancients) and it is believed that the Chapter was constituted around 1758, but this date has yet to be proven. It currently works under a renewed warrant from 1780.[27] The Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania claims to be the first Royal Arch Grand Chapter in North America and was formed on November 23, 1795 by the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania[28], whereas in the South of U.S. the State of California had done its chapter 1855[29] (like the State of the Indiana[30]) and in 1876.[31]

After the independence of the American Colonies in 1776, Freemasonry in the United States remained relatively little influenced by the rivalry between the “Antients” and “Moderns” in England. In 1797, a group of Royal Arch masons met in Hartford to try to establish some sort of governing body for degrees that were largely conferred in the New England states, which became the Grand Chapter of the Northern States, and later was broken down into the state-by-state Grand Chapter system.[32] This body later became the General Grand Chapter, Royal Arch Masons International.[3]

On 10 November 2004, the Grand Chapter of the Holy Royal Arch in England declared the Royal Arch to be a separate degree in its own right, albeit the natural progression from the third degree, and the completion of “pure, antient Masonry“, which consists of the three Craft degrees and the Royal Arch.[33] Following this decision by the Grand Chapter in 2004, there are currently significant ritual differences between Royal Arch Masonry as worked in England and Royal Arch Masonry worked as part of the York Rite in the USA.[citation needed] Fraternal inter-relations remain as before.

Determining the authenticity of these two “anti-cipher” quotes

There is a copy of the privately printed and somewhat difficult to find Notes on the Course in Divinity by Lida Fitzpatrick C.S.D. in the Apocalyptic Synthesis Library (ASL) so that it is readily accessible to everyone. The more discerning reader may want to judge the authenticity of this quote in the larger context of the book in which it was originally published. I wrote to the Research and Reference Services at the Mary Baker Eddy Library in Boston, Massachusetts, and asked for their help in determining the authenticity of the May 18, 1903 quote. The following response from Mr. Kurt Morris applies equally to both quotes:

From: Kurt Morris <@mbelibrary.org>
Subject: Quote attributed to Mary Baker Eddy
Date: Friday, January 12, 2018 12:24 PM

Dear Mr. ,

Thank you for your question regarding the quote attributed to Mary Baker Eddy as follows: “I know what is coming. I dare not tell you what I know; you are young yet, and now is the time to experiment. You will know some day. We are told the world will be destroyed. How? … We are told, like Mt. Pelee there is an internal fire that will finally burst forth and will destroy the world.”

This quotation is from the notebook of one of Eddy’s students, Lida Fitzpatrick. It is correct as quoted.

Thanks again for your question. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Sargent, George H. Kinter, and possibly others, should not be accepted as genuine, or as giving accurate statements by our Leader. They state, ‘It is neither fair nor loyal to our Leader to attribute to her anything that is not authenticated in a dependable way. Writings said to be hers which did not come directly from her and which do not accord with her printed works in substance and phraseology, may well be regarded as apocryphal, if not downright forgeries.

“In defence of these notes let it be said that the writer of this introduction has discussed the accuracy of the statements attributed to Mrs. Eddy with the following students: Miss Minnie Adelaide Still, Mrs. Caroline Foss Gyger, Calvin C. Hill, and Gilbert C. Carpenter. Miss Still served Mrs. Eddy as her personal maid from early in 1907 until she passed on in 1910. Mrs. Gyger was her maid from April to August, 1906. Mr. Hill served her in many capacities over a long period of years. Mr. Carpenter was her Associate Secretary for the period of one year from 1905 to 1906.”

These notes were later also integrated in Course in Divinity and General Collectanea (aka. the Blue Book) compiled by Richard Oakes.

Research notes

A great many Internet pages also say that Mrs. Eddy was an “associate” of Henry Steel Olcott, a 33rd Degree Freemason, who Wikipedia says is a “co-founder and first President of the Theosophical Society.” This association is usually made by way of suggesting that Christian Science is somehow evil. I can assure you that I have been around these people for 40 years and they are not. The researchers at the MBE Library deny that she ever knew or met this man and I can find no references outside of those who would profane my religion. It is undeniable that the cross and crown which adorns the cover of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures is also used by the Freemasons, but to use this as a basis to attack Christian Science evidences an acute lack of understanding as to why she chose this symbol instead of the ark used on the second edition of her textbook.
